Have an inkling to volunteer for a nonprofit or community group? You’ll have a chance to make some connections at the upcoming Beaverton Volunteer Fair.

Slated for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Beaverton City Library, the goal of the volunteer fair is to raise awareness for local nonprofits and community groups with the hope of increasing donations and volunteers to assist the nonprofits.

This annual event was created by the 2016 Leadership Beaverton class and has been adopted by the city of Beaverton’s Events Program.

“The mission of this event is to engage a diverse network of community members and business leaders who are inspired and empowered through education and awareness to take action to improve their communities,” according to the city of Beaverton website.

Natali Pardo, the city’s event coordinator, said it’s a great chance to connect with nonprofits, whether you’re an adult or a youth.

“It’s a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning more about organizations or looking for a volunteer opportunity,” Pardo said. “For any students who might need volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to come seek those opportunities, or for adults who just need a little bit of an escape.”

The event takes place at the library’s Cathy Stanton Room in meeting rooms A and B and on the library lawn, at 12375 S.W. Fifth St.
